Latinos Exposing Tea Party Racism

the Tea Party  signs and the vitriol sounded familiar:

  • “President Obama wants to turn the country into a third world country.”
  • “Immigrants are taking over the United States, they must be sent to where they came from”
  • “This is our nation and we should take it back”
  • “Make English America’s official language”

Is Immigration Reform a Stimulus for the Economy?

Is Immigration Reform a Stimulus for the Economy?

If immigrants had an opportunity to buy a home and a new car or buy that big T.V without fear of deportation they would. not that they don’t already buy  things such as clothing , food and inexpensive cars. but they would contribute more to this economy if they had less fear of not being able to enjoy the things they buy.

I would propose  immigrants pay a fine of 7,500 for a family that can show it has been here longer than five years and 8,500 for someone here with two years. and 10,000 for someone that has less then one year in this country and can prove they have a job that no one has applied for and could not be filled.

and yes everyone would be required to pay a fee for background checks and only people that have not committed felonies should be granted citizenship.

lastly with Americas debt at an alarming high we will need more people paying into taxes and social security.

Immigration Overhaul in 2010

By Ruben Navarrette Jr.

It’s time again for New Year’s resolutions, especially if Congress and the White House really plan to reopen the explosive immigration debate in 2010. Whether or not they do depends on which part of the political carnival you’re looking at.

This week, the Los Angeles Times reported that the Obama administration is discreetly laying the groundwork to tackle immigration reform early next year.

According to the article, senior White House aides have privately assured Latino immigration activists that President Obama will throw his support behind legislation in Congress to provide a path to earned legalization for the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants now living in the United States. - CNN

The Obama administration is rallying allies to push for a package with better border security and a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants now in the U.S. The effort is sure to be a tough sell. LA TIMES

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he wants to help change immigration policy. In his inaugural address Friday, he vowed to work with the president and others to bring about meaningful changes to the nation’s immigration policies.

Hate Crimes in Pennsylvania

The police chief in a small town in Pennsylvania and two of his officers are being held in prison accused of having organised a cover-up following a brutal attack on an illegal Mexican immigrant by a group of white high school students which ended in the Mexican man’s death.

The indictments bring the full weight of US federal law down on Shenandoah, a declining rustbelt town of about 5,000 people 80 miles north-west of Philadelphia. The allegations also cast light on the relationship between senior officers and the teenagers they were supposed to be investigating. [bp]

Dave Gibson is The Racist at examiner.com?

Pointing out isolated incidents and showing no real references or government reports for his rants.dave-gibson although he did use “Violent Crimes Institute” as the only resources. and so  i went to that website and it’s from Dr. DSK “Deborah Schurman-Kauflin” Charging $400.00 fee  for 30 min and thats just for talking. and btw most of her writings are very much right wing.

So , by using fuzzy math like  “sex offenders comprise of two percent of illegals apprehended” according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) records , she comes up with speculation that  approximately 240,000 illegal immigrant sex offenders currently residing in the United States.

Do you think Dave Gibson is racist for using fuzzy math and speculation to push anti immigrant xenophobia?

Tom Tancredo Fans Anti Immigrant Xenophobia in Colorado

First 9/11 was used as excuse to attack immigrants and now they are using unemployment as an excuse to harass immigrants. racist will ultimately go after immigrants at any given opportunity. from denverpost.com: Former U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo wants every Colorado business to verify that new hires are U.S. citizens, a proposal that immediately prompted cries of racism from critics. [read more]

“I can’t think of a better time to bring this forward,” Tancredo said. “The fact that we’ve got high unemployment is enough to make people more sensitive to people working here illegally.”

Lou Dobbs not racist enough for ALIPAC?

ALIPAC announced that it’s “withdrawing support” for the former CNN anchor. Lou Dobbs has even managed to turn off the man who was once his biggest supporter. William Gheen, the president of Americans for Legal Immigration (ALIPAC), has devoted quite a bit of energy in recent years to trying to persuade Dobbs to run for president; he even set up a Web site about the cause. But in a press release sent out Thursday morning, ALIPAC announced that it’s “withdrawing support” for the former CNN anchor. - salon.com From the release:

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC is withdrawing support for Lou Dobbs after years, including the suspension of websites calling on Dobbs to run for President due to the perceived change in Mr. Dobbs’s stances on immigration issues. “While Mr. Dobbs claims his positions have not changed, however, that is not the perception of many of our mutual supporters,” said William Gheen of ALIPAC. “His recent comments on Telemundo and his national radio show supporting some kind of path to citizenship for illegal immigrants is inconsistent with positions of ALIPAC and the views of most American citizens.” …. ALIPAC is suspending the operations of two Dobbs fan websites. The Facebook “Draft Lou Dobbs for President or US Senate” and the fan site www.LouDobbsForPresident.org will suspend operations and have a notice of ALIPAC’s discontinued support placed upon them. The site www.LouDobbsForPresident.org was launched back in early 2008 and has generated pledges of over $660,000 in contributions if Lou Dobbs were to run for office. “We’ve received so many demands from prior Dobbs supporters to remove their pledges of support that we have to suspend all operations on the Dobbs fan sites,” said Gheen. “Lou Dobbs has deeply offended his base of supporters and ALIPAC is going to remain loyal to those Americans who support our existing immigration laws instead of Amnesty disguised as reform.”
